Blessed to be a blessing

The safe and caring adults who ministered to Kacey when she was in middle school made her want to be that safe and caring adult for young people. A double major in youth ministry and Christian formation and social enterprise, with a minor in theology, she hopes to one day share the love of Jesus through work at a youth nonprofit or outreach program. Kacey is a student ambassador, member of the Black V improv group, and on the leadership team of the Intercultural Club.

Genuine characters
Northwestern stood out to me because of how genuine the students and faculty seemed during my campus visit. Northwestern has the most authentic people who are sincerely seeking the heart of God. The professors genuinely care. And the students are so cool and silly. Northwestern has given me many of my closest, lifelong friends.

Molded by mentors
I have really enjoyed the youth ministry and Christian formation major at Northwestern because of the incredible professors. They are so intelligent and wise, and so, so receptive to all my millions of questions. I cannot imagine the growth that is to come in the years I have left at Northwestern.

Practical experience
Orange City is full of opportunities to get experience. My academic adviser helped me set up my internship at a church before I even started my first class. I have worked at a daycare and shelter in Sioux City. I feel confident and prepared for life after college.

Challenged to love
I’m able to better understand my own beliefs when I learn about each Christian tradition and search Scripture with an open mind to see how people can believe different doctrines from what I grew up with. It also enables me to better love those of different beliefs. Overall, in and outside of class, the people of Northwestern have challenged me to love more.
